Before you begin pairing Pearl devices to Epiphan Edge
Before you can pair a Pearl device to your Epiphan Edge team and start using it, you'll need:
An Epiphan Edge account.
A Pearl device connected to the Internet.
An admin computer connected to the same network as your Pearl device.
Access to the screen of your of Pearl device if it has one.
At least one channel setup on your Pearl device that has a custom layout with a video and audio source configured.
Internet access.
Pair, unpair, and delete a device
A device pairing code is used to pair a device to your Epiphan Edge account.
Epiphan Cloud and Epiphan Edge
Epiphan Cloud is Epiphan's cloud portal for cloud services. Epiphan Edge is Epiphan's fleet management service for Pearl devices, and it is accessed through the Epiphan Cloud portal.
Minimum firmware for pairing
Pairing requires a minimum Pearl firmware version, and the minimum depends on which regional Epiphan Cloud server you pair to:
| Epiphan Cloud server | Region | Minimum Pearl firmware |
|---|---|---|
| go.epiphan.cloud | North America | 4.21.0 |
| eu.epiphan.cloud | Europe | 4.24.1 |
| au.epiphan.cloud | Australia | 4.24.4 |
A Pearl device running firmware older than the minimum for its regional server cannot complete pairing. Upgrade the firmware first.
The EC20 PTZ camera can also be paired to, unpaired from, and deleted in Epiphan Edge. An EC20 is paired from the camera's own web interface (see the Epiphan EC20 user guide), not from a Pearl Admin panel or touchscreen. Once paired, it can be unpaired or deleted from Epiphan Edge in the same way as a Pearl device.
The EC20 PTZ camera requires firmware 3.4.40 or higher to pair with Epiphan Edge on all three regional servers (go.epiphan.cloud, eu.epiphan.cloud, and au.epiphan.cloud).
- Pearl devices: Get the pairing code from the touch screen or front screen depending on the model, or use the Admin panel. Pearl Nexus is headless and has no touch screen or front screen โ use the Admin panel, or read the pairing code from the Device Info screen on a display connected to the Pearl Nexus HDMI output.
| You won't see a pairing code if the device is already paired to Epiphan Edge. |

TIP: All team members can operate, pair, and unpair Pearl devices. With the Free or Premium plan, you can pair as many Pearl devices as you want to your team, but you can only pair a device to one team at a time.
Your default Epiphan Edge team is chosen by default when you pair a device. The Epiphan Edge plan and services associated with the team determines which Epiphan Edge features are available while the device is paired. A device can only be paired to one team at a time. Unpairing a device makes the device instance permanently go offline in Epiphan Edge. You cannot access any Epiphan Edge-generated content associated with a device that is permanently offline. Deleting a device instance completely removes Epiphan Edge access to the device and deletes any Epiphan Edge-generated content associated with that device instance. If you pair the device again, a new device instance is created that has no association with any previous instances or the associated content.
| If you unpair a Pearl device using the Admin panel, the device status only changes to the Offline state in Epiphan Edge. You must unpair the device again using Epiphan Edge to fully unpair the device so that a new pairing code is generated for your Pearl. |
