# Enable audio in Panopto local channel recordings

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus.*

By default, the local recordings that Panopto secondary channels produce on Pearl storage contain no audio.

Audio in a local recording follows the channel rather than the event. A channel records audio if an audio source is selected in that channel's active layout, so a secondary channel with no audio source in its active layout produces a silent local recording. To include audio in the local recordings for every channel, enable the setting below.

**Enable embedded audio for local channel recordings using the Admin panel**

- Log in to the Admin panel as **admin**.

- From the Configuration menu, click **CMS**. The Content management system configuration page opens.

- Under **Settings**, check **Enable embedded audio for all local channel recordings**.

- Click **Apply** at the bottom of the page.

**Device differences**

- **Pearl Nano:** Pearl Nano has a single channel, so it produces no secondary channel recordings.
