# Event behavior during network and power interruptions

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus, Pearl Nano.*

Pearl devices download the event schedule from the CMS in advance. Once the schedule has been downloaded, a network connection is not required for events to start and stop.
- If a Webcast/streaming event is disrupted all channel recordings of the event upload once the network issue is resolved. Note for Panopto, Upload the Webcast recording needs to be enabled (is by default). Note for Kaltura, Live events will not record, only vod or vod+live events will record. Note for rest, Recording is mandatory.
- If the network connection is lost during a file upload, the transfer automatically restarts when the network connection re-establishes.
- If Pearl device powered down and misses a scheduled event, the status of that event appears as **Skipped** on the Events page in the Admin panel.
- If the Pearl device loses power, the previous activity is restored when the device reboots.
- If Pearl device loses power while a scheduled event is being recorded or streamed, the recording/stream stops. If Pearl device is powered back on before the scheduled end time for the event, recording and stream, if applicable, of the scheduled event restarts automatically and a second set of files are created. When the event ends, the files are uploaded.
The status of upload can be checked in the Admin panel, through API calls, or on the device screen.

**Device differences**

- **Pearl Nexus:** Pearl Nexus has no screen, so use the Admin panel to monitor status of uploads.
