Multi-Track Recorders

Using multi-track recorders with Pearl-2, you can record multiple channels together in a single multi-track file.

Recording multiple channels at the same time ensures that all your recordings start, pause, resume, and stop at the same time. After recording stops, you can automatically use one of the system's file synchronization methods to copy the recordings off the server, or you can use our built-in tool to split the file into individual tracks for post-processing.

We do not recommend using Recorders for manual (ad hoc) recordings to the Kaltura Content Management System (CMS)

You only need to create multi-track recorders for multi-track recordings.

Add a multi-track recorder

Each channel has its own built-in recorder which you access from the channel's Recording page. However, if you want to record several channels simultaneously to a multi-track file, you need to add a multi-track recorder using the Admin panel.

Each new multi-track recorder is automatically assigned a number, for example: Recorder 1, Recorder 2, etc. and is set to record all configured channels by default.

Select channels to record

When you create a new multi-track recorder, it records all the channels configured on the Pearl-2 in the single multi-track file by default. If you create new channels, they are automatically added to the multi-track recorder. You can choose which channels the multi-track recorder includes in the multi-track file using the Admin panel.

Start and stop a multi-track recorder

You can start, pause, resume, and stop multi-track recorders from the multi-track recorder's configuration page using the Admin panel. Pausing and resuming requires firmware 4.24.6 or newer.

You can also start and stop multi-track recorders using the One Touch control feature and using Epiphan Live.

The multi-track recorder number turns red to indicate it is recording. If the system runs out of storage space, the oldest recorded file is deleted to make room for the new recording.

You can have multiple multi-track recorder and multiple channels recording all at the same time. The number of channels being recorded is shown below the Start and Stop buttons on the multi-track recorder's configuration page.
