# Apply a configuration preset using the touch screen or front screen menu

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nano*

You can use the touch screen (Pearl-2, Pearl Mini) or the front screen menu (Pearl Nano) to apply configuration presets that are either stored locally on the internal storage of the device or from a USB drive that is attached to a USB port on Pearl.

If you apply a preset that has the EDID configuration group, the system may appear unresponsive for a short time while it applies these EDIDs to the video grabbers.

**Prepare USB drive and use it to apply a configuration preset**

- Make sure that USB drive is formatted with either FAT, exFAT, ext2 or ext4
- Connect the USB drive to a computer.
- Change the USB drive label to 'EPIPHAN'. In majority of operating systems, this is usually performed by right clicking on the USB drive and select the rename option.
- Create a folder called 'EPIPHAN' as a top level folder.
- Copy one or more Configuration Presets to the EPIPHAN folder created in the previous step.
- Safely eject the USB drive from your computer.
- Connect the Maintenance USB drive to one of the USB ports on your Pearl.

**Device differences**

- **Pearl-2, Pearl Mini (touch screen):** Tap the **gear** icon to open the System settings screen (tap anywhere on the screen if the control icons aren't showing). Tap **Configuration Presets** — a list of all presets saved on the internal drive or an attached USB drive appears; USB-stored presets are marked with a USB icon and always listed first. Use the arrows at the bottom of the page to navigate the list and tap the name of the preset you want. Click **OK** when prompted; a reboot is required if the preset includes the network or system configuration groups. Presets containing only the network configuration group can alternatively be applied from **Settings > Network** (second page) **> Network Presets**.
- **Pearl Nano (front screen menu, physical control keys):** Press the **left arrow** key repeatedly on the control key interface until the Menu screen displays. Use the arrow and check mark keys to select **System**, then scroll down and select **Configuration preset**. If a prepared USB drive is attached, use the arrow and check mark keys to switch between the USB drive and internal storage. Highlight **Preset** and press the check mark key to expand the list of available presets, use the arrow keys to highlight the desired preset, and press the check mark key to select it. Highlight **Apply** and press the check mark key to apply it. The selected configuration preset is shown in the **Preset** field of the Configuration preset screen. If prompted, return to the System screen, scroll down to **Reboot**, and select **Reboot now** to complete the process. Pearl Nano does not currently document an alternative network-only preset method.
