# Dante audio on Pearl devices

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus.*

Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, and Pearl Nexus can natively receive and decode Dante audio over the network, with firmware 4.24.6 or newer and the Dante audio feature add-on. This removes the need for the external dongles and additional cable runs previously used to bring Dante audio into a Pearl system.

Dante channel counts differ by device: Pearl-2 supports four Dante audio input channels (two stereo inputs); Pearl Mini and Pearl Nexus support two (one stereo input). Dante output and Dante video are not supported on any Pearl device.

**Pearl Nano does not support Dante audio.** The Dante audio feature add-on is not available for Pearl Nano.

Dante is also available on the EC20 PTZ Camera, which is not a Pearl device. The EC20 accepts two channels (one stereo pair) of Dante audio input and does not provide Dante output.

Dante audio can be received through either the built-in Ethernet port or a USB to Ethernet adapter; see "Select Dante network interface." To purchase, install, and activate the Dante audio feature add-on, see "Purchase, install, and activate feature add-ons." For a detailed guide to purchasing and activating the Dante feature add-on, see the Epiphan knowledge base: https://learn.epiphan.com/set-up-dante-on-pearl.

### Which Pearl devices include the Dante feature

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus.*

Whether a Pearl device includes the Dante audio feature add-on depends on when it was ordered. The feature is included at no charge on units ordered on or after the date for that product, but it still needs to be activated:

- **Pearl Mini** — ordered on or after June 1, 2026 includes the Dante two-channel feature.
- **Pearl Nexus** — ordered on or after June 1, 2026 includes the Dante two-channel feature.
- **Pearl-2** — ordered on or after September 1, 2026 includes the Dante four-channel feature.

**Units ordered before those dates do not include the Dante feature and require a separate Dante feature license.** A Pearl Mini or Pearl Nexus ordered before June 1, 2026, or a Pearl-2 ordered before September 1, 2026, needs a Dante license purchased for it in order to use Dante audio. A Dante feature license can be purchased from epiphan.com: https://www.epiphan.com/products/dante-4-ch-feature-add-on for Pearl-2, and https://www.epiphan.com/products/dante-2-ch-feature-add-on for Pearl Mini and Pearl Nexus. After purchase, activate it as described in "Purchase, install, and activate feature add-ons."

### How Dante entitlement is determined

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus.*

Entitlement follows the **order date**, not the ship date. The customer does not need to do anything at the time of purchase for an entitled unit to receive the feature.

Entitlement is determined from a register of serial numbers mapped against their order dates. To confirm whether a specific unit is entitled, contact Epiphan support at support@epiphan.com with the device serial number. Entitlement cannot be inferred from the ship date, and the ship date should not be used to determine whether a unit includes the Dante feature.
