# Encoded channels, resolution, and video output

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nano, Pearl Nexus.*

| | Pearl-2 | Pearl Mini | Pearl Nexus | Pearl Nano |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Encoded channels** | 6 × Full HD, or 1 × 4K | 3 × Full HD | 3 × Full HD | 1 × 4K |
| **Maximum resolution** | Up to 2160p (4K) | Up to 1080p (Full HD) | Up to 1080p (Full HD) | Up to 2160p (4K) |
| **Video outputs** | 2 × HDMI | 1 × HDMI | 1 × HDMI | 1 × HDMI, plus 1 × HDMI pass-through |

Each encoded channel is a separate encoding instance with its own layouts, recording, and streaming configuration, so channel count determines how many independent programs a single Pearl system can produce at once.

Pearl Mini and Pearl Nexus do not encode 4K. Their maximum resolution is 1080p (Full HD).

On Pearl Nano, a purchased 4K add-on is required to capture, encode, record, or stream resolutions above 1920×1200. On Pearl-2, the 4K add-on or license is included in the cost of the system as of April 2026.

Pearl Nano encodes a single channel and single layout. It does not support multiple encoded channels or live switching.

Pearl Nano is the only Pearl system with an HDMI pass-through output in addition to its standard HDMI output.
