Operating beyond recommended source and channel limits
Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus. Pearl Nano cannot be configured beyond its limits.
The source counts, channel counts, and resolutions listed for each Pearl device are recommended limits rather than hard blocks. On Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, and Pearl Nexus it is sometimes possible to configure slightly beyond the published recommendation โ for example an additional video-over-Ethernet input โ but only under specific conditions, and performance degradation may occur.
These configurations are not supported as standard and the conditions vary by device, firmware version, resolution, frame rate, and how channels are arranged. Contact Epiphan support at support@epiphan.com to confirm whether a specific out-of-specification configuration is viable for your device before relying on it in production. Do not assume a configuration will work because it can be entered in the Admin panel.
When operating at or beyond the recommended limits, keep total system load and operating temperature within acceptable levels and validate the full configuration before using it for a live event.
Pearl Nano is the exception. Pearl Nano cannot be configured beyond its published limits. Its single channel and single layout are hard limits, not recommendations, and Pearl Nano does not support additional channels or layouts under any configuration.
