# Pearl device operating system and wireless network support

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nano, Pearl Nexus.*

Pearl devices are Linux devices running a custom kernel.

Pearl devices do not natively support wireless networks, and USB WiFi adapters are not supported. There is no wireless configuration in the Admin panel because the device has no wireless interface to configure.

To place a Pearl device on a wireless network, connect it by Ethernet to a hotspot or wireless bridge router. Any hotspot or wireless bridge router that has an Ethernet connection and supplies both network and internet connectivity can be used. The wireless link is handled entirely by that external device.

**Device differences**

- **Pearl Nano:** USB Ethernet adapters are not supported.
