# Perform a factory reset

*Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nexus, Pearl Nano*

Administrators can use the Admin panel to perform a factory reset and restore the configuration of the device to the manufacturer's original default settings.

Performing a factory reset erases all your input port settings (video and audio), channel configuration, network settings, configuration presets, all locally saved media files and recordings from the device.

Consider applying a factory default configuration preset if you want to preserve your uploaded media files, configuration presets, and channel recordings.

**Perform a factory reset using the Admin panel**

- Log in to the Admin panel as **admin**.
- From the Configuration menu, select **Maintenance**. The maintenance page opens.
- Under the **Maintenance** section, select **Reset** and click **OK** when prompted.
- The device resets to factory defaults and reboots. Wait for the system to finish rebooting before configuring the device.

**Device differences**
- **Pearl Nexus:** can additionally be factory-reset physically using the reset pin hole at the front of the device — with the device powered up, insert a pin into the reset hole and hold for approximately 15 seconds, then remove the pin. The reset process is indicated by the red and blue LEDs turning on and off; completion is indicated when the blue and red LEDs stop blinking and the power LED stays on. The device will then require initial setup.
- **Pearl Nano:** can additionally be factory-reset using the front screen menu: press the left arrow key repeatedly until the Menu screen displays, select **System** > **Settings** > **Factory reset**, then select **Factory reset** using the check mark key. If a Reset PIN is configured on the Pearl Nano, this action prompts for the PIN code before the reset proceeds.
