Purchase, install, and activate feature add-ons
Applies to: Pearl-2, Pearl Mini, Pearl Nano, Pearl Nexus.
Pearl devices offer two feature add-ons, the Dante audio feature add-on and the 4K feature add-on. Which add-ons are available depends on the device model; see Device differences below. The Dante audio feature add-on requires firmware 4.24.6 or newer. Add-ons are listed in the Admin panel when you click Firmware Upgrade from the Configuration menu in the left side navigation pane.
Add-ons must be purchased, installed, and activated before their features can be used. If you have already purchased an add-on on the Epiphan website, or an add-on was included in your purchase of the Pearl device, click Install purchased add-ons to activate the feature. A system reboot is required.
An internet connection is required to install and activate add-ons. The Pearl device must be able to reach licenses.epiphan.com. If you are unable to activate your license, contact Epiphan support at support@epiphan.com.
Purchase an add-on
You can go to the add-ons store page on the Epiphan website to purchase feature add-ons, or navigate there from the Admin panel: from the Firmware Upgrade page, click Shop now or Purchase beside any feature add-on to go to the add-ons store page and select and purchase available add-ons. Each purchased add-on can be installed and activated on a single device.

Install purchased add-ons
Click Install purchased add-ons from the Firmware Upgrade page to start the installation process. A system reboot is necessary to activate add-ons. Click OK when prompted. If you click Cancel, the device installs the add-on but does not reboot. The add-on is not activated until the device is rebooted.
Even if you have already purchased a feature, the Purchase button remains next to the feature until you have activated the feature and the system is rebooted. To determine if a feature with a Purchase button next to it has already been purchased, click Install purchased add-ons. If no add-ons are ready to be activated and installed, a message appears.
After you've activated your feature add-ons and the system reboots, the Purchase button beside those features is replaced by an Activated indicator.
Device differences
- Pearl-2: offers the Dante audio feature add-on (4 channels) and the 4K feature add-on. Pearl-2 units purchased after April 6, 2026 include the 4K feature add-on, and units ordered on or after September 1, 2026 include the Dante audio feature add-on; both still need to be activated.
- Pearl Mini: offers the Dante audio feature add-on (2 channels). Units ordered on or after June 1, 2026 include it, and it still needs to be activated. Pearl Mini does not support the 4K feature add-on.
- Pearl Nexus: offers the Dante audio feature add-on (2 channels). Units ordered on or after June 1, 2026 include it, and it still needs to be activated. Pearl Nexus does not support the 4K feature add-on.
- Pearl Nano: offers the 4K feature add-on. Pearl Nano does not support the Dante audio feature add-on.
